Subscriptions
Keep a plan record on a real customer. Create is not a charge. Run now and cron are sandbox MITs that reuse the hosted-pay CIT Network Transaction ID.
What it is
A subscription is a D1 schedule row: customer, plan name, amount, and interval. Create is not a charge. Due periods use an APT sandbox token from hosted pay (test cards). Cron and merchant Run now share one captured charge per period, tagged MIT / recurring, and reuse the CIT sandbox NTID. That models the network consent chain — it is not a live scheme NTID. See Network mandates.
When to use it
Use it so the plan you discussed survives refresh on preview/production. For a one-time amount, use Invoices or Payment Links. For a sandbox card charge, use Transactions.
Step-by-step
- Create a customer if you do not have one.
- Go to Subscriptions.
- Click Create Subscription and pick that customer.
- Save. Refresh — the same row should still be there. You have not taken a payment.
Common pitfalls
Period end drives cron and Run now. Completing hosted pay with a test card creates the sandbox token. Pause / resume / cancel still change status only. Demo mode uses labeled fixtures and does not write D1.
