Invoices & Billing
Create and send professional invoices, track payment status, and manage billing workflows.
What it is
Invoices are itemized requests for payment stored for your merchant. Each invoice has a lifecycle from draft through sent, paid, or cancelled. On preview and production, invoices persist in Worker D1 and must attach to an existing customer. Send emails the payer via Resend. SENT only after mail succeeds — if Resend is not keyed, send fails and the invoice stays a draft. Mark paid is a status change only — it does not charge a card unless the payer used hosted pay.
Draft
Not yet sent to the customer
Sent
SENT means Resend accepted the email
Paid
Marked paid — not a card charge in this release
Overdue
Past the due date without payment
When to use it
Use invoices for one-off bills, milestone billing, or any charge that needs a remittance document. For predictable recurring charges, use Subscriptions instead.
Step-by-step
- Open Invoices and click Create Invoice.
- Select an existing customer (create one on Customers first if needed).
- Add line items with description, quantity, and price.
- Set a due date, then save the draft.
- Send email when you are ready. SENT only after Resend accepts. Unkeyed Workers fail send honestly.
Common pitfalls
Marking an invoice as paid manually does not create a transaction record on the network — only use this for off-platform settlements you've reconciled separately.
